FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of North Alabama will conclude its 2009-10 Distinguished Events Series with a night of music April 20 beginning at 7 p.m. in Norton Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature two artists: pianist Scott Holshouser, of the Houston Symphony, and pianist Dr. Yi-Min Cai, associate professor of music at UNA. Holshouser is the son of UNA's first lady, B.J. Cale, wife of Dr. William G. Cale, UNA president. He has been the orchestra keyboardist for the Houston Symphony since 1980 and is accompanist for the Houston Symphony Chorus. His solo appearances include performances with the symphonies in Dallas, Atlanta and Stavanger, Norway. He has also played more than 25 solo performances with the Houston Symphony. Holshouser is featured on recordings with clarinetist Richard Nunemaker and violinist Pip Clarke. Cai, recognized as a child prodigy by age 10, has studied at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the New School of Music in Philadelphia and the Manhattan School of Music in New York. In recent years, Cai has performed in the La Laguna University Music Festival and the International Piano Festival in Spain, Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Hall in New York, and the Mozart on the Square Festival in Philadelphia. She was recently named a permanent guest professor at the prestigious Xiamen University and China Conservatory in Beijing. The UNA Distinguished Events Series was developed in 2005 to help expose the community to various sources of arts and culture.
